Administrator logon and parallel user switching

Hi!

I am having some issues using the user switching feature.
I have an administrator account but it does not appear as
an icon at the welcome screen. This is fine since I can
logon using the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen.

However, if I am logged on as a normal user and then want
to switch to the admin account, when I select "switch
user" I can only select from the icons shown on the
welcome screen. I cannot access the CTRL+ALT+DEL logon
window to get to my admin account.

My questions are:
1) How do I get access to the admin account when switching
(ie show the admin icon)?
2) How can I get the CTRL+ALT+DEL logon when switching?

Thanks in advance,

Karl Walsh

If you are referring to Faster User Switching, it is not available when you are using the Ctrl+Alt+Del type of login. If you want to enable Fast User Switching and see the icons of user accounts goto Control Panel>User Accounts>Change the way users log on or off and select Use Welcome Screen

Hope this helps :)

Administrator is special and should be left for emergency use only.
However, you can Start>Run "regedit" and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList and add a dword key
"Administrator" with value "1" to make Administrator appear on the
Welcome Screen.

I recommend that you create another Administrators group account, which
will appear on the Welcome Screen and use that instead. Save
Administrator for when your everyday Administrator account fails with a
registry hive error. Otherwise, you would be looking at a reinstall.
