'Administrator has prohibited access to CD/DVD ROM drives.'

I have a computer which has come up with 'Administrator has prohibited access
to CD/DVD ROM drives.' I do not have the intel utility installed on the
computer. It is an Acer computer and I uninstalled acer utilities. this did
not resolve the problem. I read further that a repair install would remove
the problem. That is my dilemma. In the repair install the computer only
goes so far and then the usb keyboard and mouse stops working. Help.

Hi ,

Have you researched your Acer Notebook on the Acer Website and see if it
has the Recovery CD or DVD set for that model computer? That would be the
way to go.

Before using the Recovery Set, I would wipe out the Hard Drive and
delete all partitions and let the Recovery Set repartition and reformat the
Hard Drive.

But is it worth it, if the onboard Mouse and Keyboard aren't working?

Client has to much data to erase and restore. This is why I did a repair
install. I talked to Acer and they were of no help.
