admin problems

i am the only user on an hp athlon64 xp home, yet, after checking permissions
after not being able to install some programs that pointed to needing admin
rights, i found i have like 7 different users? (admin, admin(pc name), user,
user(pc name),everyone,CREATOR OWNER,limited and whatever else, some doubles.
only the first two have inherited props. when i try to fix it, none of the
ones left have inherited properties or full control, then when i tried to use
search for something, it closed with errors and other programs not
working-what a mess-i restored everything and have left it alone since-i need
more knowledge about this than i have--is there a program that could fix
this, or can anybody direct me to some links or something?

Don't know about the number but it's normal out of the box to have around 6
or so. Using XP that is not conneted to a domain has restrictions on the
granularity of the secure options available e.g. Power User is only supported
when part of a domain.

It really depends what you are trying to do.
You say you had a problem when installing something - what was the problem
and what were you trying to do?
