Admin password

What is the admin password to access Windows Recovery
Console? I never set one up but it is asking for it.

The default is blank, none, nada, nothing, hit enter, no password.

If you never set one up then leave it blank.
If the computer admin. uses a password to log on to windows use that one.

Rob,

Had the same problem about four weeks ago. Tried
everything suggested...nothing worked...was told to use
recovery disks or to reformat. After about three days of
calling Microsoft & HP and asking everyone I knew finally
I subcumbed and did the recovery. Sorry about that.
Don't know if I got hit by a virus or just some system
hangup.

Greetings --

The password being requested is that of the built-in Administrator
account, not the password for any other user accounts you may have
created. Unless you've deliberately set the Administrator's password
via the Management Console (_not_ the Control Panel), it's probably
still blank. WinXP Pro asks you to set the Administrator's password
during installation, but WinXP Home doesn't.

If you are getting to it by booting the CD and taking R, then leave it
blank and TAB over. Otherwise it is whatever was set at Setup for the
Administrator account, which may well also be blank
