Admin password

All:

I can't remember the administrator password for my Windows 2000
configuration -- it was that long ago that I set it on installation and now
that I have a home network I can't see the contents of the computer with the
Win2000: it keeps asking for the password. How can I change it or at least
find out where it is hidden? Thank you.

Assuming it's logging itself in, you can change it with the user
administrator in Control Panel/users and passwords/advanced/advanced

All:

Perhaps I wasn't clear in explaining my predicament.

Win2k starts without problems or in need of logging in.

Yet, when I try to access my main PC from another PC in my home network,
Windows asks for the password to access something identified as
Jose-lpt4jsdox4
work group: HOME
Type: Windows 2000 professional.

I can see the content of the other PCs in the network from the main PC, but
not the main PC from the others.

I changed the password as suggested by William Smith, to something I will
always remember. Yet, I don't know if that is in fact the password for the
PC id'd as Jose-lpt4sjdox4.

Thanks
Roxy

So change the name of the file server to something like FileServer.
Right-click My Computer, Properties, Network Identification,
Properties, Computer Name.

If you regularize all the machines to have the same workgroup your
life will be a bit easier as well.
