Adding subnets

Guest

I have a physical site that has the following address range assigned to it.

192.168.0.0/19

From there we have multiple vlans and subnets setup.

vlan1 192.168.1.0/24
vlan2 192.168.2.0/24
etc.

Is there a benefit in adding each individual subnet in AD and linking it to
a Site vs adding the full subnet range of the physical site and linking it to
a site?

I think that's all personal preference and management style.

I happen to split mine up by individual subnet, but only because I use
the subnets
description attribute to more granularly describe the location as
"Site/floor/ordinal"
It makes machine hunts very easy to script: given an IP I use nslookup
and the directory lookups to return: "That's Sally Jones, on
computerXYZ in Chicago/3rd Floor/Westside"

It is preferred to define a subnet that covers multiple single subnets. Main
reason: administration/management

HOWEVER.....

It is OK to define the subnet 192.168.0.0/16 and assign it to a site. You
need to remember though that each single subnet beneath that one will be
included like
192.168.1.0/24
192.168.2.0/24
192.168.3.0/24
192.168.4.0/24
192.168.n.0/24
etc...

If you don't want to assign each and every subnet by just assigning the main
subnet, because some of the subnets belong to other sites, you need to
assign each single subnet to its corresponding site
