Adding Shortcut to Dialog Boxes

Peter

I have WindowsXP Professional 2002 SP-1. Is there a way to add a
shortcut to the menu that appears on the left side of the Windows Open
dialog box. That is, in any application, when I click on, say,
File>Open, the box that appears has along the left side "Desktop" "My
Documents" "My Computer" and so on. I would like to add a folder to
that list. If it's a space problem, I could remove either "My Recent
Documents" or "My Network". Can this be done? Thanks.

Office programs allow additions to be made in the options menus. Some
other programs may have settings for this as well but I haven't run
into any.

TweakUI for XP has settings for this. Once the program is installed
look under Command Dialogs> Places Bar.

TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP:

In addition:

Common Dialog box allows a max of 5. So, you need to replace the existing.

Sharon & Ramesh, Thank you for your responses. I have downloaded and
installed TweakUI (the SP-1 link you provided), and made the changes
at Common Dialogs>Places Bar. It works perfectly in some applications
(Notepad, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express), but does not work in
any MS Office programs. I have OfficeXP (2002 SP-2), Front Page 2003
and Access 2000. The Open/Save As boxes in those remains unchanged.
Sharon wrote, "Office programs allow additions to be made in the

application? If so, I can't find any place under any of the tabs there
to make this change. Maybe I am missing something. If so, I would
appreciate your correcting me. I went to the URL suggested by Ramesh,
and I am very reluctant to change the Registry file, particularly --
as in this instance -- when I'm not sure I understand what I'm doing!
Thanks again for your help.

Peter,

TweakUI procedure applies only to Common Dialog box, not Office applications. For Office XP, check this site:
