Adding memory and Vista activation

T

Ted F

I got a simple question...

I have a DELL E521 computer which came with MS Vista Home Premium OEM and 2
GB of memory installed and I want to add 2 GB more.

My question :

Do I have to call the Microsoft "India" vista activation center, because I
add more memory?

**The reason why I say "India", is because I always get someone from India
and you can't understand what there saying with the numbers there telling
you over the phone to enter in the boxes. I rather get someone I can
understand in texas or somewhere in the USA.

Installing additional RAM should not affect your current
Windows Vista activation status.

Not Me

I moved the same RAM around in the slots to enable the dual channel
capability and had to reactivate.
So without even 'adding' anything, I had to reactivate.
Your mileage may vary!

Just to you and everybody know.

On 3/13/2008, I installed the extra memory with no problem and also no vista
activation was required.

To recap, I replaced all four 512 MB (DDR2 533) memory sticks which was only
2 GB to four 1 GB (DDR2 667) which now gives me 4 GB (Really 3325 GB in Vista)

Thanks!
