Adding Hardrive

My primary diskdrive on a Dell crashed and burned.I had a secondary hardrive
on that computer (E) which I used for backing up. I purchased a new computer
which is running Windows XP Home. I tried to install the old (E) drive on the
new computer as a secondary drive so I can transfer my old backed up data.
The new computer installs the new drive and says nothing is wron in the
Device Manager. However, in the Disk Management it gives mae an error message
saying the drive is a "foreign" drive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is this disk by chance a dynamic disk? If this is true XP Home cannot
read it. It also
cannot be changed back to a basic disk without losing everything. Best
bet would
be to install it in an XP box to find out, and if true copy the files.
