Adding colour effects to tables

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add colour effects (e.g. shading
left to right) to specific cells in an MS word table?

I can do this for a drawing object using teh fill option then selecting
effects but can't seem to find an option when shading cells within a table?

Cheers,

Kippers,

I don't think you can apply a gradient fill to a table alone. The entire
page, yes. However, you can create a frame and add a gradient fill to it
then insert your table into the frame.

Good Luck!

AFAIK, only solid fills can be applied to table cells. Gradients ("shading
left to right"?) can only be applied to drawing objects.

As a workaround a rectangle can be filled with a gradient & apply "Behind
Text" text wrapping to it. You can set the border of the rectangle to "No
Line" and adjust the table & cell border color settings accordingly.
Keeping the shape & the table aligned with each other, however, can be a
challenge if you do any further editing that causes the text to re-flow :)

Thanks Cybertaz,

Thsi works but it is extremely difficult (impossible!) to align the
rectangle exactly with the cells in the table.

cheers,

And what about PPT tables? They have all those nifty banded styles but none
are the way I want it. Why can't you just pick the two colors you want and
have it auto band? If it's there, please tell me how to do it!! I don't
really like the examples that much.
