Adding another DC

We currently have a 2k DC and a bdc on NT 4. I want to
make a 2k member server a DC and no longer use the NT box
as a BDC. What would be the proper order to do this?

On your member server run dcpromo, and create aditional DC for your existing
domain. Make sure, that your member server is comfigured properly (pointing
its DNS server to internal DNS server). If you have only one DNS server in
your network, it is good to install a DNS server service on this new DC.
Also make this server a Global Catalog server.
