Adding a TCP/IP port crashes explorer

G

Guest

I'm trying to add a TCP/IP port for a printer that I'm installing and each
time I try to add it, my system crashes with a .dll error.

My quick question is: Is this something I can remedy with a complete
re-install? Or, if I call MS, would that be their solution?

Thanks!

Nah you're at the right spot.

I am assuming you are adding a Standard TCP/IP port and the explorer process
crashes where the desktop restarts not the whole system.

Check your windows directory for dll files. Particularly winsock.dll and
ws*.dll.

Also is this Service Pack 2? What is the version of
\windows\system32\printui.dll?
