Added transitions and now music doesn't match up

I am making a video slideshow and my music matched up miraculously close.
Then I went in and added some transitions and the music was WAY longer than
the slideshow. what happened?

Adding a transition causes the 2 clips to overlap a bit, reducing the
overall duration by that much. If your transition lasta one second, you
would need to lenghten one of the pictures by a second to keep things ending
at the same time.
