"add to dictionary" option not highlighted when spellchecking

When using spellcheck in US English (UK) appears to be OK) and when a new
word is ecountered the add dictionary option is not highlighted. Any
suggestions

Make sure that the language of Custom.dic is set to "All Languages" and not
"English (UK)."
