add to contact list reappears

Every time I sign into Windows XP Messenger 4.7 two message windows pop up: "(my own messenger e-mail address) has added you to his/ her contact list. . . ." which is already signed in and open, and "( a name and e-mail address ) has added you to his/ her contact list. . . ." of a person whose name and exact e-mail are already in my contact list. How can I keep these messages from popping up every time I sign into messenger?

I also have this problem. I haven't been able to find a fix on this board. Anyone have a fix?
