Add Remove Programs

Joe Bushee

A users' Add Remove Programs displays "There are no
programs installed on this computer", but I am able to
scroll down and view the list of installed programs. The
Change/Remove button on each item is not active, like I
don't have permissions to make changes. This is when
logged on as either a Domain Admin, or the Local Admin.

Win2KPro, SP3 on Win@K Domain. NAV current, installed as
a managed client.

Any ideas on how to proceed short of a reinstall?

Thanx
Joe

It sounds like the programs were improperly removed (files
deleted). If you are comfortable with using the registry,
the list is kept in it. I do not recall the specific
location, but you can do a search for the program name, or
a portion of it and find the location. Delete these from
the registry and they will no longer appear in
the "Add/Remove list".

No, ALL programs were there (if I scroll down past "There
are no programs installed on this computer", but greyed
out.

I ghosted the thing, but am still curious.

Thanx
