I'm running XP Pro, and all of a sudden I've had some severe problems. No
response when the add/remove applet in the control panel is clicked. Also, I
couldn't access the administrative tools and display properties applet (I'm
administrator) receiving the error message "oleacc.dll is not a valid
windows image". I was able to clear up the last two problems by downloading
and overwriting oleacc.dll and msing32.dll in system32. I've reinstalled
appwiz.cpl in system32 with no joy and run a full virus scan. Any ideas as
to how to solve this without running system repair?
At the same time all this occurred, I'm now asked to logon to windows at
start up with the login box appearing on a black background. At installation
I set it up so I wouldn't have to log on. In local users and groups my full
name is listed as administrator with the description: Built-in account for
administering the computer/domain. My first name (the one that I'm asked to
log on for) is listed as a member of administrators. Can I delete my first
name listing in local users and groups to stop the login screen?
I'm not sure, but all the above problems seem to have occurred after I
updated Nero to the latest version. I noticed the add/remove applet problem
when I wanted to uninstall Roxio Easy Creator 6.
Thanks Very Much,
