Add/Remove Programs and the "Start" Menu in WinXP

Deborah

Whenever I remove a program via the Add/Remove Programs
utility, the program's entry remains in the "Start" menu
even thought the executable is gone.

Does anyone know if there is a fix, or "hotfix" available
to corrects this oversight? Better yet, does anyone
remember how to switch the start menu from the XP format
to the "old" format?

Deborah,

It's the duty of the application which you uninstall, to cleanup it's shortcut entries in the Deskop, Quick Launch etc. While some applications properly clean-up their entries, most don't. You may remove the invalid shortcuts manually or use a third-party utility which can do the job. I still use System Mechanic 3.x to clean-up the invalid shortcuts left in the Start Menu and other areas.
