add/remove programmes

HJINUK

Mcafee security center was downloading an update, but this
continued for over 3 hours until eventually the PC locked
up. I could not end through task manager, so had to switch
off.
On return I now cannot open the "Add/Remove Programmes" on
the control panel icon.
Meesage reads:
Unexpected error. Object doesn't support this property or
method.
res://sp3res.dll/default.hta line:82

Any suggestions how I can rid this message and restore
the "Add/remove programmes".

Not sure what OS you are running but some things to try:

Painful ideas:
Read Microsoft article Q266668
Couple ways to get there quick:
If you have an IE browser type in "mskb 266668" without
the quotes and click the link that appears. OR
click on this link: http://support.microsoft.com/?
scid=kb;en-us;Q266668

Less Painful but also not a sure thing:
In Place upgrade from your OS to XP *assuming here your
running 2000*
Reapply SP4.

Hope that helps.
