Add New Hardware Problem

K

I temporarily removed my network adapter card and after I reinstalled
it, the Add New Hardware wizard starts. I cancelled that and the driver
appeared in Device Manager and the network works fine. Every time I
start Windows, the New Hardware wizard starts, but there does not seem
to be any way to tell it that the hardware is already installed. How can
I turn it off??
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and the network card is a CNET PRO200WL
PCI.
Thanks for any assistance.

As the Wizard appears, there is an option to cancel, also 'not to show this
again'.

Make sure that before you cancel the installation wizrad, that you tick the
checkbox so that it won't launch again for this hardware item.

If that doesn't work, you can always let the Wizard do its thing.
Afterward, you can go into Device Manager and see if there's a duplicate
installed with a yellow flag (exclamation mark in a triangle) beside it.

If you find such an entry, you can do a right-click>remove(uninstall).
Refresh the screen to see if it tries to install it again, or shows stable.

If it tries another install, there may be another issue you need to look at.
(More on that if necessary.)

Thanks to you both. I have reseated the card and reinstalled the driver
and it seems to have taken care of the problem.
