Add-in "AVGXCH32.DLL" could not be installed...

Chris

I am on a Dell PC with Windows XP and Norton Antivirus.
I do not have any program that begins with AVG (I believe
there is an AVG antivirus program.. but I do not have
it.) When I start my Outlook 2002, I get the following
message:

The add-in "C|WINDOWS|SYSTEM|AVGXCH32.DLL" could not be
installed or loaded... may be resolved using Detect and
Repair... etc.

However, Detect and Repair and using my Windows XP CD do
not resolve the issue. Can anyone help resolve this
annoying problem?

You had it at some point (assuming it is from AVG antivius) or used file and
settings transfer wizard (or office save my settings wizard) to copy your
profile and it copied too much.

Close outlook, find and delete the extend.dat file and restart outlook. It's
located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily access it by pasting
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the Address bar of your
browser or Windows Explorer.

Note that by default, Windows hides some of your user profile folders from
you. Change the settings in Windows Explorer's Tools, Folder Options, View
tab to show hidden files and folders and remove the check from hide system
files.
