Add and Remove Programs Not Removing

J

John

I have a few old programs I have uninstalled with their
corresponding uninstall programs, yet they still remain
on the Add and Remove Programs list. If I click the Add
or Remove button, it will start launching an uninstall
wizard and give me an error saying the uninstall.ini is
not found. It still remains on the list, and I want it
removed. Is there a way to manually remove the program
from the list?

When you start to remove a program using the Add/Remove Programs
Control Panel, it can be frustrating to see programs you've deleted
long ago. If you're the industrious type and don't mind editing the
Registry, you can remove these programs from the list. (Note: As
always, we recommend first backing up your Registry files--User.dat
and System.dat, hidden files on the root of your hard drive.)

First, start the Registry Editor by going to Start, Run and typing

RegEdit

Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
You'll see a list of all the programs available in your Add/Remove
Programs Control Panel. You can simply select an entry from the list
on the left, press the Delete key, and confirm to remove it. Close the
Registry Editor and restart Windows; the item will be gone from your
Add/Remove Programs list.

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE GOING IN
