Adaware is responsible for switch of homepage not MS

A bad version of Adaware is responsible for a false positive of an attempted hijacker. I have run CWShredder, SpySweeper by Webroot (paid version), PestPatrol, Spybot -- search and destroy and have confirmed that my dad had the exact same error in his Adaware with XP Home. When letting Adaware fix the false error it removes safety of xxxtoolbar from SpywareBlaster as well as resetting your homepage to msn.com. Please ignore this false reading and someone contact LavaSoft.

I tried pest patrol a couple of weeks ago it did the same
thing.Minus the home page change.

It is not anti-spyware resetting the default IE start page, it is one
(or more) of the security updates from IE from M$ and even the the basic
installation of IE6sp1 does this.

I am too. I do not know what happened to my machine. After doing the cleanup with Adaware definitions the config.sys was screwed up. It tried to find himem.sys in DOS rather than in Windows. This was with 98SE so it may not be too relevant here --- still it was weird as hell.

: Hi Art,

: Yeah, I read it and understand. Glad you got it sorted.
