AD domain name

Hi all,

Quick question: If I name my AD domain name to be the same as my
Internet dNS name, but our recieving email domain is not the same as
this, will there be a problem? i.e. Internet dns= abc.ca, AD name=
abc.ca, exchange email addy will be def.ghi.com. I have no experience
with exchange or AD so I was just wondering since exchange is tied
into AD, will it have a problem recieving mail on a different domain
name than the domain it resides in?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

The thing you want is possible, in Exchange you can configure whatever
domainname the Exchange server can receive.
Configure your DNS and you are ready to go.
Good luck!

Hi Bikkelbink,

Thats great news. But what about user accounts? When I create a user
in AD, it automatically gives them an email addy of
xxx.xxx@ADdomainname (which is going to be different than the user's
real email addy) is this going to cause me a problem later? Or will
I have to manually reassign everyone's email addy to the correct
value?

Thanks,
Rob

Rob,

When you configure the recipient policy to the desired domain name, this
will change the e-mail address for all your users, and than you are done!
Good luck (don't forget to enable the option in the Recipient Policy "this
exchange organisation is responisble.......")
