AD backup

Does any one know what is the MS suggested backup for W2K
AD using the W2K backup utility.
Backing up the system drive and the system state of the
system. I want a secure reliable complete system backup.
Should the backup be done in the normal system state or is
it better to get a complete backup when the system is in
Directory save mode?
NTBackup does not backup open files. The ntds database I
can only copy to an other folder when I am in directory
save mode. When I backup the complete system drive will it
not copy the complete SYSVOL folder? Is it copied
completly when it is selected with a system state backup?
May be some has experimented with it and knows the answer
to it.

Thanks

I have played around with NT backup, and actually restored the AD on a test
server. All I did was backup the System State, and the drive where the
SYSVOL is stored (usually C drive). I got it from this article
http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBK/tip5100/rh5127.htm. Ignore the fact that it's
about restoring a domain controller on a different hardware, but everything
else should still apply.

I looked at these messages but it did not answer my
question. Is it better to do a tape backup under directory
save mode or is it just as good to do the backup on a
running system?
why this question, because I have run into problems
rebuilding system drives. There where inconsistency that I
could not fix, the backup was no good.
