ad aware vs Microsoft Anti Spyware

Bernard

I run ad aware on my machine yesterday AFTER doing a full scan with
Microsoft Anti spyware.

Ad aware picked picked up just over 60 instances of spyware on my machine
that MS anit spyware did not detect.

Both versions of the software are the latest versions with the latest
definition files.

Can any one comment on this?

Can you be a bit more specific on what AdAware picked up the MSAS didn't.
For example AdAware will detect tracking cookies where as MSAS generally
doesn't.

If it was however Spyware then there is a section of MSAS where you can
report potential spyware for inclusion in future definitions.
-In the main menu, click "Tools" and then "Suspected Spyware Report."
-Fill out a description of the problem and click "Create Report."
-After Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) does a scan of your computer, click
"Submit Report."

Most of the stuff that adaware picked up were tracking
cookies.........having said that dont you think that MS software should
detect these??

Hi Bernard,
That's part of a larger discussion me thinks. The cookie isn't necessarily
doing damage, or transmitting data other than usage. On the flip side, many
see cookies as privacy issues, and I don't disagree with them. What I would
like is the opportunity to choose just which cookies I like and dislike on a
selective basis.
