Is this a new freeware version of Ad-Aware that supercedes A-A 6? I started
to install it, but aborted when it recommended uninstalling A-A 6 (which
still works just fine for me).

This is something that Lavasoft should have clarified and put the info
at an easy to find location on their website: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Most likely the updates will start applying to the SE version only.
Better to switch to it.

That is my expectation, too, one of those inevitable upgrade deals
which I certainly understand but I'll be among the last holdouts :)

I believe I read that because of the few problems with the new version,
they will continue to offer signature updates for the existing version
for about 90 days.
The update did work today on the older one.

using mozilla firefox will avoid the problem of spyware (spyware enter
with the technology ActiveX enable in internet explorer ) , firefox not
enable this techno for the same reason, and no impact for view web :)
(maybe some web use activex , but it s seems not confident , why they
need to run script on your pc without your autorisation?? )

*groan* I meant the "signature file". Not any update to the core of
the program itself.

Oh, nevermind; I give up. Besides, you've already said you're
removing Adaware and if it is a bilious as you make it out to be why
would I screw with it any way? Sheeesh!
