Is it possible to disable this prompt :

"An activex control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other
parts of this page. Do you want to allow this interaction."

When accessing an html FILE on the harddrive - in MSIE 6, XPSP1 ?

IE, tools, options, security, highlighted Internet icon, "Custom Level"
button, scroll down to allow..., and put a dot in 'enable'

My mistake, I failed to see you were talking about a Local file.

To disable the SP2 warning for running activeX on a local computer page, go
to : IE, Tools menu, Options, Advanced Tab, -- scroll down to the Security
area, check the box for, "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer"

IE, tools, options, security, highlighted Internet icon, "Custom Level"
button, scroll down to allow..., and put a dot in 'enable'

Allow what? And if it's the internet icon won't it affect all internet
sites?

This option is not present.

Nor is this.

Hm? Unselect?

It seems odd that disabling something would enable what I was asking
for.

Hi Pete,
Information About the Unsafe File List in Internet Explorer 6
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291369
It is best if you update to SP2 to get more security controls and features
to enable you to achieve what you are looking for.
If this HTML page have Script or AcvtiveX Control you will be warned by
windows that this ActiveX can be harmful, just right click it and select
Allow Temporary and you will be able to See or execute the Code on that page
if you trust it *SAFE* .

Yes, it will. If you want it to be only for local, get windows sp2. (or
change it back and forth)

P

Pete B

You could run active x by renaming the local htm files to *.hta.

Lol, that actually works since its just a little html file with a
javascript in it - nifty :) Thanks.
