ActiveSync and VS 2005 Beta 2

I get this error when i try to connect VS 2005 Beta 2 to my Pocket PC 2003
device (hp 2215)...

Connection failed. The current version of activesync is not supported.
install the latest version from www.microsoft.com

I cheked activesync under "about" and i am running version 3.8

Any ideas?

I uninstalled 3.8, rebooted the system, installed 4.0, rebooted the
system and still the same problem
