I am trying to add a controller for an existing domain and get this error

Active Directory Installation Failed

The operation failed because

Failed to modify the necessary properties for the machine account LTCL

"The specified server cannot perform the requested operation."

* Using the built-in Administrator in the current domain during the
promotion.

* Has the computer name LTCL been used before in the particular domain?

* Can you ping the AD DNS name by FQDN like ping company.com and get
response from the server you try to promote?

Dalet,

It looks like the 'new' server is able to find a replication partner - in
the proper site? - and everything is running smoothly until it comes to make
the modification.

Try the link that I posted previously and see if that helps you.
