active directory dns lookup issue

Hi
we just added an win2k3 server and created an replication domain
controller on it . Our previous ad was on an windows 2000 advance
server. after running the wizard on win2k3 box (and adprep on
win2000)we were connected to the active directory . but upon adding a
user it says that the Global catalog cannot be contacted for verifying
if the username was unique. Also while trying to carry out replication
in the ad sites console the system gives an error that the there was
RPc service could not be contacted and that the issue could be related
to dns lookup failure . we tried to check if there were any network
config (TCP/IP settings )issues but could not find any .

Please help

First thing to check if the SRV records exist in DNS under the zonename.
Make sure you are not using an ISP's DNS in any of your machines' IP
properties.

To better assist, we'll need some config info...

Can we see an ipconfig /all from both servers?
Can you also let us know what the AD DNS domain name should be?
Can you also tell us if the SRV records exist under the zone?
Does the zone have updates enabled on both DNS servers?
Any replication errors or any errors at all in the Event viewer?
