i'm competely confused - i bought my laptop with a vista disc which i've just
installed. i tried to activate but all it said was 'error code
0xC004E003.......have i done something wrong while i was installing?

Hi,
There should be an Telephone Activation Option or a Phone Number to call
Microsoft in that interface when you're trying to activate. It's a pain to
do but you won't have to do it again unless you re-format your hard drive
and reinstall Vista.
