Activation problem

I have an old (7+ years) PC running WinXP. Lately, I installed an D-Link WDA
1320 wireless adapter in this PC.

But every once in a while, when I powered off the PC and reboot later, the
PC sees this adapter as 2 separate devices (serial port and ethernet
controller). When this happens, I have to cancel the "new" device install and
then uninstall the the NOT yet installed devices. After that, I have to
reboot, and now the PC will see the adapter correctly.

The problem is after several times, Windows is not happy and said there are
too many changes in my system hardware and ask me to re-activate.

I had managed to re-activate 2 times in the past. To-day, after the same
adapter problem, Windows is asking me again to re-activate. When I tried to
re-activate, this time it said according to their record, I have activated
more times than allowed and asked me to enter a new product code.

Because I don't have another product code, I now cannot use that PC at all.

Can anyone help or direct me to somewhere that can help.

Thanks in advance.

Charles.

The wireless adaptor looks like a network (NIC) card
and it's not uncommon for Windows to act up when
NIC(s) have problems. Have you called D-Link Tech Support?
