Activation message with volume license

I have had XP on a machine for over 2 years. SP2 has not
been installed but all available updates are on it. I use a
volume license version for my builds so activation has
never been an issue until now. Yesterday a message popped
up that I had 16 days to activate XP. When I clicked ok, I
got the message that it is already activated. The countdown
continues and today I only have 15 days to activate.
What would cause this to start happening now? How do I get
rid of the message? If I ignore it, will everything come to
a halt in 15 days?

Are you a genuine volume licensed customer (under a Select, Open or
Enterprise Agreement) or did you use a pirated VL version ?

We are a genuine volume licensed customer. I have been
using this license for over 2 years on very many pcs and
never had an issue like this before.

Try repairing the registry entries for the .DLL files used by
activation:

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Good luck
