Activating XP Pro

Recently the USB on my mother Board stopped working so i purchased another
Board and installed everything on to it including the Hard Drive. On Boot up
it asked to be activated. I tried this on line and it was rejected. I phoned
and was told everything on the computer had changed and as my OS was OEM I
could not activate it,. I asked if i put the computer back together with
the old Board would it still work, i was assured it would.
On reconecting everything again on Boot up i was asked to activate it. I
tried this on line and it said i couldn't activate as everything had
changed. I phoned again and spoke to a so called supervisor and he said he
would put me onto a technician. I waited 20 minutes and no one came on the
line so i rang off.
I should think a supervisor got his job by knowing a bit more than the
average technician and would be able to answer a simple question.
Can anyone out there help as when i first put it all together again i had
message saying i had 30 days to activate, now this afternoon i have had a
message saying i have only 3 days left to activate. Somewhere i have lost 27
days in 3 hours. Any help would be appreciated. Alan

1 - An oem version of xp in a computer is non-transferable to a new
computer/motherboard. This is why you were denied. Oem versions are tied to
the first computer/motherboard forever.
2 - the supervisor sent you to a tech because they don't do activations, the
techs do. Next time wait on the line longer and I'll bet the tech would have
activated you no problem. I'd call back to get the old machine activated and
then get a retail version of xp to install on the new computer/motherboard.
