Activating Windows XP

K

Ken S.

I installed Windows XP Pro, replacing Windows ME, I
encountered some problems running some hardware, and
software. I took the computer to a local Comp service.
they corrected my problems. When I got the computer
hooked up and started, I did not receive the Windows XP
request to Activate the software. The local comp service
may have activated Wind XP, How can I determine if it
has been Activated with Microsoft? At the time I took it
to the comp service, I had 25 days to Activate.

The OS will let you know, with frequent (several times a day)
reminders, if you do need to activate. To check for yourself, Start >
All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Activate Windows.
Alternatively, Start > Run > "C:\Windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A."
It will probably tell you that WinXP has already been activated.
