Acrobat Reader on XPE

What do I need to do to be able to display PDF files on an XPE system? Do I
need to componentize Adobe Reader? That sounds like a pretty daunting task.

And what about browser plug-ins? It might be easier to display these from
inside a browser window instead of opening them directly in the Reader app.
I read something on an MS web site about XPE supporting (or including?) a
browser plug-in for rendering PDF files, but I'm not sure what that was
referring to. I'm currently on SP1 of XPE and have no plans to upgrade to
SP2 in the near future.

Has anyone done this in an XPE deployment?

Yes, you do.
It is not that tough. I've done that once a while ago and it wasn't end of the world :)

You will just have to use regular tools like RegSnap, Regmon, Filemon, Dependency Walker.
And what about browser plug-ins? It might be easier to display these from

If you start componentizing the Adobe Reader you will get the IE plug-in (ActiveX control registred) along with it.

I have't heard of built-in support for PDF viewing on XP/XPe. But I wouldn't think it was there because of many legal restrictions
from Adobe.

As I mentioned I did. Unfortunately I won't be able to share that component as it belongs to a customer of ours but not me.

Actually, I tried it post-FBA, but it required an advanced version of the
Windows Installer that is not in my config. And the Windows Installer is one
of those components that nearly doubles my image footprint if I add it
(pulls in a bunch of database stuff, etc.).
