Hi!

I need to help with my laptop - ACER TM2354LM
I have a problem becouse my laptop has a password in BIOS, password shows
me in the startup!
Could You help me, I will be grateful!

I read that in Acer laptop I must remove battery from motherboard for few
minutes or switch off the jumper! Is it true?
And if it is true, which jumper I must switch off?

Thanks for any help / suggestions!

I can't seem to find any detailed manual for this laptop online, perhaps
if you can determine what mainboard it's using? Everest Home might be
of assistance in that case.

Oh, forgot to ask -- have you tried removing the battery (the one on the
mainboard) for a few minutes?

without password! :)

Try this group. alt.sys.pc-clone.acer
Acer documents are available online. Also
info on whether the BIOS battery trick will work or not.

you'd need to take apart the laptop to show the mainboard then remove
the battery (this works on every motherboard btw) i'm not sure how long
you're supposed to leave the battery out for exactly, its just enough
for the mobo to lose all power and forget the settings.
or if theres a bios reset jumper, move the pin to reset position then
back.

While what you say is true for desktops, it is not true
for many laptops. As a security device many if not most
laptops have to be reset by supply proof of ownership
to the factory, which will then issue a master password to
unlock the machine.

i believe if you can open it up it can be done, it cannot keep the
settings without power :) so take the battery out, the only thing i can
think of that won't allow you to do that is if the battery s hidden and
hard to get to or something
