I am the primary user of the computer and use the computer most often.
Problem exists in that wife set up email with provider and it uses her
identity to access server. Now that I'm with Vista WM, I cannot seem to
download my messages, only hers. I set up my account and set it as the
default, but it isn't working, any suggestions?

Do both you and your wife use the same Windows user login?
Are you and your wife's email addresses truly separate, or is one
merely an alias for the other? What happens when you send an
email to yourself?

same windows login for both of us, believe we have two separate email
addresses with cox.net (I have a unique web mail account with Cox that has my
emails stored there). I have sent email and it shows up on my web mail but
will not download to my Windows mail. Again, with Cox, only the person who
set up service has the primary user name and password and that is hers, not
mine. I'm starting to think that I will need to use two windows user
accounts and create a mail account for each with Vista.

Gary, thanks for your time...messed with it enough that it answered my
question. I created another user account for Vista for my wife (secondary
user) and left myself as the administrator account since I use the computer
most often. I was able to keep my email address and account and receive
emails once I deleted her email account from my user account. She now gets
emails when we switch users in the start-up menu. A little more cumbersome
than the old identity switch, but it works fine. Again, thanks
