Accidental Deletion

This morning I accidentally deleted my "Pictures" sub-folder. It didn't show
up in the recycle bin and now I cannot find it. It is quite important, is
there anyway to retrieve these files?

Thanks!

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location.

C:\Users\Username (Username is the account that you were logged in with
when the folder was deleted.)

Right click the 'Username' folder and select Properties/Previous Versions
Tab. Look for the most recent version of this folder and select that folder
version.

From here, you can click to open the folder, expand that folder under Local
Host, Copy the deleted Pictures folder and Paste the folder back to it's
original location.

Mr. Vernon,

Thank you for the reply. I navigated to that location, and Explorer opened
a regular Windows 'User' folder (ADAM is the user name). I also went to
C:\Users and right clicked on the 'ADAM' folder, but the properties tab
brought only 'general-security-sharing-customize' tabs. No where could I
find a 'previous versions' tab. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks again,

Adam

Dave is correct, if you are using one of the Home versions of Vista, the
Previous Versions feature will not be available.

You may not be able to recover that folder unless you have a recent backup.

You could try Partition Recovery from www.diskinternals.co.uk . It's
best to write to the disk as little as possible until you've had a
chance to do recovery, that includes installing data recovery
software. Get a friend to download the data recovery CD ISO file from
www.diskinternals.co.uk and burn a CD from it. Then you can run the
recovery tools from it and see whether they can recover your folder or
its contents.

Use Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software. It will help you
in recovering your lost picture folder.
Stellar phoenix is a file & partition recovery utility that recovers
all data lost after accidental format, virus problems, software
malfunction, file/directory deletion, or even a sabotage.
Download the demo version of the software from:
http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
Scan your hard drive and it will show your lost files and folders. If
it does get the full version.
