Accessing Floppy Drive

M

Running XP Pro SP2, Norton Anti-Virus 2005, and Ad-Aware.

For no apparent reason, the computer will try to access my Floppy Drive (A)
every now an then. I can tell because you can hear it, then I will see the
floppy light go on. Does any one have an idea what maybe causing this? It
even does this when there are no applications running, of course memory
processes are running.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

It may help, (if you've recently used the floppy drive), to clear "recently
used documents."

Click Start | Settiings | Taskbar and Start Menu | ...click the "Start Menu"
tab | ...click the "Customize" button | ...and click the "Clear button
....phew !

Thank You Richard, I'll give it a try.
Hopefully that could be it because I just used the drive recently, don't use
it that much but did last night.

I'm afraid that wasn't the solution.

I remembered I had to uninstall and reinstall an HP product yesterday and I
noticed some of the files it was installing were NET.FRAMEWORK. If I can
remember it is 1.1. This was an old disk, so I went to Windows Update and
sure enough it had 2 security updates for NETFRAME 1.1.

After I installed the updates and rebooted the computer, the problem I was
having with the floppy drive was gone, well for now anyway. Don't know for
sure if the updates actually fixed the issue directly but I'll take it.

Thanks,

Mark
