Access2003 exclusive access warning with Adobe Toolbar

I have a few users with the Adobe Toolbar getting the
"You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time" warning
message when they open my Access2003 application. This did not happen until
the toolbar was installed.

The error persists when they click OK but after a few times the Access2003
application opens and runs fine and the warning does not reappear until the
Access2003 application is closed and opened again.

I was wondering if anyone knew of this being an incompatability between
Access2003 and Adobe or was there an Access or Adobe setting to change that
would stop this warning from appearing.

The users do not need the Adobe Toolbar for Access but would like to keep it
for Word and Excel.

Thanks.

The Adobe toolbar is causing the problem. Open the Add/Remove Programs
window from the Control Panel and select Adobe 7.0, then select
"Change/Remove." Choose "Modify" in the wizard, and then choose the "Create
Adobe PDF" item when it gets to the optional plug-in page. Choose the "Adobe
PDFMaker" item and then select "Access." Choose "This feature
will not be available."

The toolbar will remain for the other Office programs, but you won't be
plagued by it when opening Access any more.

wow.

yet more proof that Adobe Acrobat sucks balls.

I think that Adobe needs to either merge with Oracle, Microsoft or
Business Objects.
they have proven that they are incapable of producing decent software
on their own.

Thanks Granny,

This worked perfectly for my users with Adobe Acrobat 7 but I have one user
who is using Adobe Creative Suite 2 and I only get the choices to Uninstall
or Re-Install when in Add/Remove Programs.

Do you know the procedure for doing the same mod in Creative Suite ?

Kevin.

Sorry. I'm not familiar with that one. My guess is that it's all or nothing.
Either you have the Adobe toolbar for all Office applications, or else you
have none of them.

Set the registry value of the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\ACCESS\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin
LoadBehavior

from 3 to 0

To disconnect the Addin. The Addin need a exclusive access to the DB to
insert the PDF Toolbar.
