i have office xp sp1 on my machine. when i try to open an
old(access2000 or access97) database , i get the following
error:

You do not have the necessary permissions to use the
<name> object. Have your system administrator or the
person who created this object establish the appropriate
permissions for you. (Error 3033).

even if i take ownership of this DB and i have admin
privileges i get the same error.

please advice in this

It sounds to me that the database was secured using a *different* MDW file
from the one you are currently using. You will need to find that MDW file
and use the wrkgadm.exe to join the workgroup on that MDW.

Note that if anyone set up Access security correctly on a database, the
Access Admin user doesn't normally have any permission.
