access to local resources denied when using server account with admin rights

I am using windows 2000 sever with all the latest service
packs and updates with an XP workstation with all its
latest updates.

The problem is when I use an account created on the
windows 2000 server (active directoy is running)with admin
rights I cannot install or access certain local resources
on the xp machine. I have to logon as the administrator
to the the local machine in order to get these rights.
What is happening here?
