Access Reports Page Set Up Formatting reverting to defaults

originally posted this to "REPORTS" but got no response. Perhaps someone on
this forum could help.

" have developed a small database application for my facility which is used
by several people on several computers. It is still under development but one
thing is driving me nuts.
Most of the reports i've devloped require landscape and legal paper
orientation/size and it seems that however many times I set this up - it
reverts back to default portrait/letter. I searched the knowledge base and
saw that there is a potential flaw and it suggests installing a SR/1 pack -
what I need to know is - I have Access 2000 SP3 - is that later or newer than
the SR/1 and will I cause more problems by installing SR/1 over SP3 - or is
there another work around for this problem. It's driving me nuts!"

I now know that my SP3 is newer than SR/1 - so why does this still happen?

Any ideas

The original problem with A2000 was that it would 'spontaneously loose
report settings.

There is another general problem with report settings which applies to all
versions of Access:

Report settings will revert to default if the settings don't match the
currently available printers.

So reversion to default can happen if there is no printer set up at all.

Or if the report is configured to print to a specific printer driver, and
that printer driver is not available, or is the wrong version.

Normally, if the report is just set to print the default page size to the
default printer, it should remain in portrait/letter format even if the
report is run on different computers. If this is not what you see, then
there may be a specific problem with your installation of Access, or your
database, or your printer driver.

You should of course have Name Autocorrect turned off unless you are making
a specific database change, but that is unlikely to be your particular
problem.

Thanks for your response David. All users use the same printer so that
shouldn't be the problem. I did read in the knowledge base about "Name Auto
COrrect" being on being the issue, but my understanding was that the SP/1 fix
was supposed to fix it - obviously not - I think name auto correct is on,
mainly because I do have cause to rename queries etc - as the db is still in
development - although it's being used. I guess I will just have to turn it
off.

Thanks again

All users should get their own copy of the forms database,
linked to a shared data database. If this presents an
organisational problem, you can use Tony's Auto FE updater:
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/autofe.htm .

When each machine has its own forms database, you will
be able to identify which machine is causing the problem
with the printer setup.
