Access Replication Syncronization list

Does anyone know of a way to eliminate the old history items from the
Access Replication Syncronization drop down list?

We have change servers and workstations and I would like to eliminate
the old severver locations from this list to avoid confusing people.

Thanks

It's rather difficult if the servers involved no longer exist.

To delete an obsolete replica you have to attempt a synchronization
with it. However, the exact location has to still be accessible.
That is, if you have this replica in the list:

\\Server\Databases\MyReplica.mdb

you delete or rename it and try to synch with it.

If that server doesn't exist any more, or that share is gone, then
you can't do it.

If you really need to clean up the list, use a workstation and
change its name to the name of the old server, and create the
relevant shares and directories to replicate the structure of the
old server. Then you can synch with that and it will delete the
replica.

However, keep in mind that you may need to do this more than once
for each replica listed in the SYNCHRONIZE dropdown list provided by
the Access UI. This is because one filename/path can represent an
infinite number of actual replicas. That is, many different replicas
with the same filename may have had many different ReplicaIDs.

If you check the hidend system table, MSysReplicas, you'll see how
many replicas there are listed there, and that's how many times you
will have to synch to get rid of the single entry in the dropdown
list.

Last of all, the correct way to have avoided this problem was to
have used the MoveReplica command in Replication Manager or the TSI
Synchronizer when you transferred the replica from the old server to
the new. Another option would have been to move the file manually
and then attempt a synch with the old file right away, when the old
server was still in place.
