Access Remote Computer

Hello,

I have Windows XP Professional on my Home PC and is it is connected to
Broadband Internet. This PC is a stand alone PC connected to the internet.

I want to access this PC remotely from another computer. How can I do that?
I tried the steps in the microsoft help ste, but whenver I try to connect, it
gives me a message " the specified remote computer could not be found. verify
that you have typed the correct name or IP Address, and then try connecting
again" .

I got the name from "My Compter" . The Computer name tht appears there is
"BIRENDRA-STAN" . Does this look right? should it be in the form of a URL or
something?

Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The name will work only from your local network (you have a 1 computer network). Use the public IP address (as you probably don't have a public name like www.microsoft.com). Type in Start Run

cmd /k ipconfig

If 10 million other things are right you'll connect.
