access public folder contacts in address book

If I use a public folder system with permissions settings to share company
contacts with the office staff, how can I make these contacts available in
the Address Book?

I am looking for a single contact sharing solution that will:
- allow company wide sharing of contacts with certain permissions
-allow staff to access the contacts they have permissions to via the Address
Book utility when sending email
-that is automated and syncronized and does not require manual updating
between the contacts public folders and the address book.

Who of us has time to maintain two seperate contacts lists in a public
folder system and them in the Address Book utility?

Also, let me qualify and say that I know that the Adddress Book is not a
true "contact" profile but only the email address of the contact.

P.S. I am using an exchange server and outlook 2003.

Thanks for help.

The address book is a "container" for multiple address lists, including
those for contacts folders.

To display a particular contacts folder in the address book, each user needs
to bring up the Properties dialog for the folder, then select the Outlook
Address Book check box.

Sue,

I appreciate your help, but I need to know if I add a public folder
containing contacts to the Outlook Address Book as you suggested, will the
Address Book update automatically as the public folder containing the
contacts changes. For instance, if one of my staff adds a new contact to the
public folder containing the contacts list, will the Address Book
automatically update itself to include the new contact?

Thanks Again.

Yes. There's nothing to update. The address book simply shows the data in
the contacts folders.

I realise this message is old by in my business we use public folders exactly
as outlined below. However, randomly, a newly added entry in the public
folder isnt available in the adress book, for either the original poster or
anyone else.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Darren
