Access problems with restored files

Hi,

I recently upgraded my hw and sw by installing a larger drive and upgrading
from Windows 200 Pro to XP Pro. I had a lot of data to move from the original
drive to the newer drive so I backed up the data onto the original drive then
once the new drive was installed, I restored them, using the XP backup
programme. All seemed ok and all the files were restored.

I have now noticed that on the new drive that I can create files and folders
ok. If I copy files and folders from one of the files/folders restored then I
can access them and delete them.

However, if I move the folders or files to a new folder on the same drive
then when I try to access them I get a message that says access is denied. I
only have one account on the XP system and that is an administrator account.
The same was on the Windows 200 system.

It seems that the access permissions are being messed up when I move a
restored item.

Any ideas?

I want to restructure my folders but won’t do so until I understand what’s
happening because once I move it, I lose access.

Thanks

I don't have an answer for you but you are not alone ingetting that error
code saying "access is denied" and I am the only user. It makes no sense at
all. My problem however is limited to only one folder. Can't delete it or
look at it. It's got to be an XP bug.
