Access or MS Project?

I am planning to start developing a database for my compnay to track jobs,
status, cust. info, deliverables, etc. I was planning to use Access and
someone suggested I use MS Project instead. I've looked at what I can find
on the internet about both programs and am clueless which one is the better
choice for me. Any suggestions?

Project is designed to track project progress, costs, etc., with Gantt charts.

It is also scalable through Project Server, while Access is not.

Well, only you can answer the above. The difference between the two is the
difference between a house and carpenter tools to build a house.

ms-access is not a project management system, but is developers tool like
visual basic, c++ etc. Ms-access has nothing to manage a project, but is a
set of developer tools that allows you to build something, be it a job
costing system, or some type of project management.

So, which is a better choice? Well, only you can really decide. however, do
you want to purchase a built house, or do you want to purchase some tools
and go out and build you own house?

You will have to ask yourself how much development experience you have, or
how much time you are willing to invest to learn ms-access. How long does
it take to learn ms-access? About the same amount of time it takes to learn
to play a musical instruments. How good you get is going to be a function of
how much time you spend learning. If you don't feel like learning the piano
at this time in your life, then you likely will not be up to learning
ms-access either.....

So, learning music, or learning ms-access is like going back to school...if
you love this kind of thing..then by all means go for it. But, don't expect
to play the piano or learn ms-access in 1 month.

If you love change..and learning..then ms-access is able to sponge up as
much time as you have to offer!!!

Access handles up to 25, 50 or even 75 users. After that you can
use SQL Server/MSDE/SQL Server Express to store the data. So it
scales up quite nicely too.
